"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!

I clicked on the "Today" button at the top of the page, and it takes you to a page where all the latest things that are happening are shown, including a "new Deviants" (members) list; it lists I think the latest 20 people signed up.
I went there and picked a few at random and welcomed them, and you where one of them.
I hope that has cleared your mind, as this is not 1984 and I'm not Bigbrother.
